Prof. James Naismith
Jim Naismith studied chemistry at Edinburgh graduating in 1989. He gained a PhD in 1992 as a Carnegie Scholar at the University of Manchester. In 1993 and 1994 he was a NATO fellow in the lab of Stephen Sprang at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centre Dallas, Texas. In 1995 he came back to the UK to a lectureship in St Andrews. He taught both chemistry and biology; whilst working at the interface. He left St Andrews in 2017 to take up the post of Director of the Research Complex at Harwell and co-interim academic lead of the Rosalind Franklin Institute.
